I was very disturbed when Bombay high court ordered a docile woman who is found to follow her husband whenever he gets posted as anachronistic today. they said they expect Indian women behave like sita
Who says sita was follower, powerless ,dependent ??? If anyone says Indian women should like Sita they think Sita is powerless ,sacrificing n only follower .weak and dependent .and so should be today's Indian woman .
Sita was indeed a woman of fordable fortitude and strength .A woman who persuaded her husband Ram into exile by choice and not by force . defied Ravanaa and even rejecting Ram preferring to world rather than live with him after second test to prove her innocence ,when Indian males says us to behave us like sita (including judges) their vision bench may have been to teach us being inferior with their limited observation.
that wife should be like Sita who left everything and followed her husband and stay es there for 14 years .
But in ultimate analysis it all depends on how one looks at Sita -subservient and loyal or strong and will full ?
Did she follow Ram as docile creature ??because she had to or followed as an independent spirited young wife who wanted to be with the husband ?? How did judges fall pray to common stereotypes cliches that assume Sita was nothing more than a helpless weak woman ??
I am tired of listening this word /My parents wanted me to behave like sita. Every one feels Indian families only be successful when every Indian woman will be sita
Yes ,Indian women should be like sita but not as judges meant , not as our elders meant , not as Indian society mean , not as they mean sita as submissive woman .
Was Sita submissive ? unambitious ??.follower ?? like today's Indian bahus of today's TV serial who decorates our TV screens with meaningless glitter portraying distorted ,single-dimensional stereotype from our epically mythology -play acting to a deep rooted patriarchal mindset on TV.
The TV bahus of today refuse to cross the Laxman Rekha ,forgetting that Sita did cross Laxman rekha ..today's TV serial bahus tolerates all unfairness and forgive her husband's any misdemeanour, forgetting that Sita walked out of Ram's life without a word when he asked her for second public test .Who says sita was follower, powerless ,dependent ??? If anyone says Indian women should like Sita they think Sita is powerless ,sacrificing n only follower .weak and dependent .and so should be today's Indian woman .

I tried to understand Ramayan as gender perspective and as research perspective and I found Sta was very much her own woman .All through her extraordinary trials and tribulations .she retained her dignity.,her independent thinking and her iron will all through exile .captivity banishment .. she did single motherhood ,which even today's woman finds difficult and then the final most telling of them all .
her defiant ,furious unforgiving yet quiet rejection of the epitome of ideal manhood 'Maryada Purshottam ram"
But question is why /? why woman should be Sita ? why me and my daughter should be Sita ??.why disha and i become an not ordinary woman ???Why we should be draupadi ,kunti , or Jhansi ki rani ????
Why should we be like anyone else ?Why we fall to stereotypes and live life trying to emulate someone with completely in different compulsions and circumstances ???
I would love my daughter disha should try and be true to her own self to her motivations ,her dreams, her compulsions and her circumstances .Disha and this generation need not to follow any role model but can pick and choose certain characteristics from the myriads role models that our history and mythology epics give us.
No one Role models would suit the multi-faceted Indian woman like Disha , me and all today's woman .

Very True! Every(one)woman is unique and shall maintain that! No need to emulate anyone either from the past or present!
